Fall 2015 Couture

Some of the best fashion houses in the world showed their fall 2015 couture collections. They made beautiful clothes inspired by history, art, and culture. Then, they showed their clothes in Rome and Paris.


Valentino showed its clothes in Rome. The brand was started in Rome in 1960 by Valentino Garavani. For instance, the clothes had symbols of ancient Rome, like eagles, wheat stalks, and arches. They were black, gold, and red. The models wore gold necklaces and headpieces. Thus, they looked like royalty.


For instance, Chanel made the Grand Palais look like a casino for its show. Famous people like Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart, and Rita Ora played at the tables. The clothes were a mix of classic Chanel tweeds and modern shapes. They also had sequins, feathers, and lace. The show ended with a male bride and groom. They were namely Kendall Jenner and Baptiste Giabiconi.


Dior showed its clothes at the Musee Rodin. There was also a circular mirror that reflected the models and the people watching. The clothes were inspired by Flemish painters and how they used light and shadow. The clothes had different colours and shapes. For example, the cone bra, the corset, and the wedding dress. The models also wore wigs and accessories like Madonna’s hair and jewellery. The show ended with a Madonna impersonator singing. Therefore, the audience gave her a standing ovation.

Iris van Herpen’s show was a showcase of her new way of making clothes. The clothes were specifically inspired by magnetic fields and how they work. The clothes were made of unusual materials like metal wires, silicone rubber, and 3D-printed plastic. Some of the clothes moved and changed shape on the runway.
